Dutch-born American painter and sculptor, widely recognized as a leading figure in Abstract Expressionism, along with Jackson Pollock.

An experimental artist, de Kooning's works range from abstract to figurative, his painting Woman I ( MOMA, New York ), is known to be one of the most popular paintings in American art.
