Andrew Colopy Biography

Established artist Andrew Colopy's work explores the relationship between the cute and the grotesque.

Colopy received a BS in Architecture from Ohio University in2003, graduating Summa cum Laude; and a MA in Architecture from Columbia University in New York in 2006. He has appeared in several publications and has worked professionally in both Ohio and New York, where he is currently based.

In speaking about his current work, Colopy states, ?Exploring the aesthetic tendencies and affectual possibilities of cuteness against the seemingly oppositional program of monumental functionality, form pushes beyond indexicality. While mediating the boundary between the cute and the grotesque, affect inculcates a dialogue between cuteness and perversity that results from the autonomous will of the objective vis-a-vis subjective perception.?
