Antonio Citterio

Antonio Citterio was born in Meda, Italy in 1950.  He has designed a variety of things for many different companies including bathroom fittings, kitchens, cutlery, lamps and office furniture.

His ability to represent the image of the company and depart from his individual style along with his instinct for recognizing globally successful products has allowed him to become a leading designer of his generation. His Mart armchair series, created for B&B Italia, combined a retro style with ironic purism. His ability to work with the same company like with B&B Italia allowed him to influence the image of the company for years.

He also was an architect and interior designer. He created many buildings in Europe and Japan including the headquarters of Espirit in Amsteram, Antwero and Milan. He designed showrooms for fashion companies also. He created Mobil for Kartell, which shows his versatility and interest in using different materials, being that it is a plastic container trolley that does not look impressive but its transparent matt plastic and simple design made it a novelty.
