Matali Crasset

Matali Crasset was born in Chalons-en-Champagne, France in 1965. Although she rose to fame quickly, her designs were not always easy to market because of her strongly conceptual approach.

Her installations had a look somewhere in-between art and industrial design. Her work also followed the themes that were found in her rural upbringing of hospitality, empathy, and generosity.  They were also sensual as in her Cable-free food and drink warmer that has the appearance of a human torso.

Matali has also has designed radios and recorders for Thomson, furniture for Domeau and Pérés, and lamps for Artemide. She also received high acclaim for her interior design of Hi Hotel in Nice in which she explored the relationship between humans and their environment.
