Annie Leibovitz
(Westerbury, 1949- )
American photographer, well known for her portraits of celebrities, ranging from musicians to political figures.
Trained at the San Francisco Art Institute and with the master Ralph Gibson, Annie Leibovitz has emerged as a leading photographer in the worlds of magazine, fashion, and advertising. Her works like the portrait of a nude John Lennon in bed with his fully clothed wife, Yoko Ono, is forever embedded in our minds.
She has worked for magazines like Vanity Fair and Rolling Stone. Her works have also been part pf exhibition at the Sidney Janis Gallery (1983-1985 and 1986-1989), and the National Portrait Gallery (Washington, D.C.).
