There is an introduction to each chapter written by Javier Arnaldo--the publisher of these volumes, and co-curator at the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum. Volume 1 focuses on art from the 13th to 19th centuries, while Volume 2 looks at art of the 19th and 20th centuries. Combined, these two books feature 960 pages and some 270 beautifully-reproduced full-color images.
