IN HER OWN WORDS:

After leaving St Martins School of Art in 1989, I took time out to raise my three children, during which time I worked on several commissions. In 1997 I took on my studio and returned to full-time painting, working in three main areas; human figure, trees and fish. I first introduced fish into my work when I painted a crevette which presented a form that echoed my human figures. From this I became fascinated by other crustacea and fish forms; excited by the patterns, textures and colour.

More recently my fish paintings have taken on other aspects such as movement and exploration of living fish rather than studies of dead fish. I feel there is still a lot more to explore within this subject and will continue with it until I feel it is time to move on.
