Chiho Aoshima Biography

Japanese pop artist Chiho Aoshima lives and works in Tokyo and is a member of 'Kaikai Kiki' artists collective, run by Opus Underground artist Takashi Murakami. Her work chiefly depicts fantastic 'dreamscapes', which typically portray young women in exquisitely surreal landscapes.

Aoshima has exhibited internationally, and her work is held in a number of collections - including Ackland Art Museum, North Carolina, and the Seattle Art Museum. She has also shown her work in London and New York subway stations.

Chiho says of her wistful art, 'My work feels like strands of my thoughts that have flown around the universe before coming back to materialise'.
