Though it began with a commission by Gerhard Richter, their collection has focused on work by students and graduates, establishing relationships between offices and local art academies. In addition, since 1975 they have commissioned an "Art Car", which has seen everyone from Robert Rauchenberg to Andy Warhol to Jenny Hozer and Olafur Eliasson decorating a BMW.
