Diego Arribas Biography

Madrid, 1957 -

Diego Arribas is an emerging Spanish artist who works in both painting and sculpture. He studied Fine Art, with a concentration in sculpture, at the Universidad Universidad Complutense in Madrid. Later, he also took specialized courses at Universidad Internacional Menéndez Pelayo in Huesca, Spain, directed by Javier Maderuelo, and courses with Francesc Torres at Universidad Politécnica in Valencia, Spain.

A sculptor and professor of Fine and Visual Arts, he worked for 11 years at the Instituto Salvador Victoria in Monreal del Campo. Since his arrival in Aragon, Spain, the open iron mines of Ojos Negros have become the focus of his artistic work. His artwork is always related to nature, which he uses in his work as a means of communication with the public, as he says, “to return to the basic disciplines using and recylcling materials that people can recognize are ways to connect with them.”

His art is exhibited in museums and collections in France, Spain and Germany.
