Artist's Statement

Being brought up with a strong family background of artists, it has always been my passion to do paintings. I strongly believe and experience what Thomas Merton has quoted: “Art enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time.” So is with me and I try honestly to share this experience with others, through my paintings. I like to learn from nature and life. I trust that art is the best way to let out the emotions and impressions. So beautiful are those few ordinary moments and memories, which enrich us with a treasure of emotions but are often lost or overseen in daily race of life. I try to capture this in frame of paintings, with hope to make a viewer halt for an instant and get back to self. This is an endless journey of fascination and impressions. Just the moment we feel like we have something in hand, the next shows how far the horizon is! I like to be a part of this voyage—a happy explorer. The medium of my work is acrylic, watercolors or mixed on canvas. A prominent feature about these paintings is the influence by renowned Indian artists on me, which has imparted uniqueness in my own style and selection of subjects. I have not restricted myself to any particular style or theme, but rather like to work on variety of subjects for my paintings. This offers a new challenge to me every time--a new excitement, while for the viewers too, the paintings don`t become monotonous.
