American performance artist, musician and poet, well known for her role in unusual performance.

Trained at the Barnard College, Columbia University and with Sol LeWitt, Anderson came into limelight, in the 1970s, with her performances, that combined visual and audio effects.

She is best known for her piece, AUTOMOTIVE, an outdoor concert with car horns and UNITED STATES, an eight hour marathon composition combining music, narrative and theatre (Brooklyn Academy of Music).Amongst her other activities are: development of new musical instruments, music (her first album, BIG SCIENCE, was released in 1981) and her role as the director of the MELTDOWN FESITIVAL, London, an annual concert specializing in unusual music and collaborations.
