CJ O'Neill Biography

CJ O'Neill was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland in 1978. She got her BA in three-dimensional design at Manchester Metropolitan University where she is now a senior lecturer in the Creative Business Devolpment course. She also works as a consultant for various organisations on creative business development and is the director of the Manchester Craft and Design Centre.

She produces a range of products in translucent, slipcast, fine bone china. The products have a shiny glazed finish with matt, unglazed rim and are white in all forms. She has produced decorative bowls, wall lights, necklaces and earrings. She has also takes recycled dishware and using water jet-cutting and laser-marking to create unique decorative plates.

CJ O'Neill has created products on all scales from one of a kind object to production runs, to large scale installations. As an artist and designer she is interested in the rekindling of memories through objects and patterns.

Currently she is working on various projects, including installations for a hotel in Mauritius, a university in the UK and Manchester International Festival fringe events. She also is working on a collaborative project with jeweller Jenny Walker.
