Ineke Hans Biography

Ineke Hans was born in 1966 in the Netherlands. She got her BA in 3d design from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Arnhem in the Netherlands and her masters in furniture design from the Royal College of Art in London in 1995.

She worked for Habitat in the United Kingdom on their mass-produced furniture and product collection.

In 1998 she founded her studio Inekehans/Arnhem in Holland. Most of her work is furniture but she also designs everything from jewellery to public spaces.

She believes, ?Perceptiveness about the connections between people and objects is a fundamental prerequisite for a furniture designer?.

She focuses on the interaction between products and people and the images that products produce in the minds of people. Her early works focused on function and have a down to earth aspect to them. Some of the things that interest her in design are word play, colors, new materials, old techniques, folklore, and the intelligent use of materials and decoration.

Most of her furniture designs are of chairs but she also designs benches, tables, and decks. Her product designs include kitchen items, baskets, laptop holders, lighting, and jewelry amongst other things.
