Remo Farruggio Biography
Palermo, Sicily, 1904 ? New York, 1981
Established Italian-American painter and graphic artist, whose work is inspired by color.
Between 1957 and 1967 Farruggio mainly painted robust and rotund nudes, using the human form as a vehicle for exploring color, form and volume. Blurred outlines imbue many of his figures with softness and sensuality.
Farruggio is also known for his still lives, which are reminiscent of cubism.
The Provincetown Art Association and Museum recently held a retrospective of Farruggio's work. He is also mentioned in 'Who's Who in American Art'.
