Gonzalo Vieiro Biography

Santiago de Compostela, Spain, 1948

Established Spanish artist Gonzalo Vieiro?s prints are themed around mystical figures. His style is iconic and primitive, often reminding us of ancient or biblical artworks.

He began his studies in 1968 at the Escuela de Bellas Artes de Santa Isabel de Hungria in Sevilla.

Vieiro finished his Fine Arts studies as the disciple of professor Garcia Ochoa in 1974.

He currently gives drawing and calcographic engraving classes at the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas Ramon Falcon in Lugo.

Vieiros work can be found across the globe in countries such as Japan, Venezuela and Switzerland.

SELECTED HONORS AND AWARDS - 1970: Fundacion Barrie de la Maza en La Coruña (1er accesit) - 1972: Beca de Paisaje por la escuela de Bellas Artes concedida por el Excelentisimo Ayuntamient de Bocairente, Valencia, (1st prize and gold medal). - 1973: Concurso de grabadores organizado por la Direccion General de Bellas Artes, (3rd prize).
