How do I set prices for my art?

PicassoMio.com and PicassoMio Galleries have sold artworks by more than 1,000 artists, in various stages of the career development, in the last five years.

As an artist gains recognition and sales, the market begins to determine the prices, but for emerging and mid-career artists, it remains important that the prices are carefully set to help build a following and collector base.

Artists should consider their local market, primary sales market, other similar artists, and previous sales before determining their prices.

In order to help emerging artists, such as recent graduates, artists not represented by major international galleries and artists with less than 10 years of sales experience, PicassoMio professionals have prepared some guidelines to assist you in determining prices:

PAINTINGS / OTHER ONE-OF-A-KIND ART:

- Small (Up to 50 cm or 20 inches): €200 - €500 / $200 - $500
- Medium (50 cm - 1 meter / 20 inches – 40 inches): €400 – €1500 / $400 – $1500
- Large (1 meter - 2 meters / 40 inches – 80 inches): €1500 – €3000 / $1500 – $3000

PHOTOGRAPHY / GRAPHIC PRINTS / SCULPTURES / OTHER LIMITED EDITIONS (calculated based on edition sizes of approximately 20 – 50)*

- Small (Up to 50 cm or 20 inches): €100 - €300 / $100 - $300
- Medium (50 cm - 1 meter / 20 inches – 40 inches): €200 – €500 / $200 – $500
- Large (1 meter - 2 meters / 40 inches – 80 inches): €500 €1500 / $500 – $1500

* For smaller or larger editions, prices should be suitably modified.

As an artist’s career progresses, with exhibitions and increase in the collector base, the artist should continue to reconsider prices of his or her works, in conjunction with the galleries and other market experts.
