Detailed Description
Bown worked with the Observer newspaper (UK) for over 45 years, during which time she photographed many of the most famous individuals of the 20th Century. Her work is characterised by her loyalty to black and white photography and the fact that she only ever uses two cameras and natural light. This natural approach to her medium is reflected in her award-winning ability to portray the personalities of the people she photographs.
