Jane Rusin Biography

Bucharest, Romania

A mid-career Romanian artist, Jane Rusin works in a variety of styles, painting with acrylic on canvas. She experiments with both color and texture, often using a palette knife to apply various thicknesses of paint that create three dimensionality and natural shadow.

She began painting as a child, following in the footsteps of her father. She later moved to Canada to escape communism and fully explore her natural creativity and talent. She now works as both a fine artist and fashion designer, and is an active member of a number of associations including the Scarborough Art Council, Canadian Decorative Art Association, the Toronto Fashion Incubator, and the Design Council of Canada.

Rusin has a Masters in Civil Engineering, as well as a degree in Art and Design from Romania. Her work hangs in collections throughout the Americas, Asia, and Europe.

She says of her work: I believe there is no poor expression. Only the lack of it will isolate you from the others. Experimenting is essential. Colors are my words, I?m speaking a universal language, so anyone, at some point, can hear and understand what I want to communicate. I would die in a monochrome world. Shapes and light have different meanings and I want to explore them all.
