_Lawrence, Massachusetts, 1917_ Established American painter John Grillo's bold and sensuous paintings have been critically described as a collage of "spiralling forms, dazzling color chords, dynamic diagonals, and jump-cut spatial locations, fast rhythms, fleeting fragmentary shapes.

" John Grillo studied at Hartford School of Fine Arts California School of Fine Arts San Francisco and with Hans Hoffman between 1948 and 1951.
