Jule Witte Biography

Bremen, Germany

Having studied and used various typical handicraft techniques in Mexico for two years, Jule Witte began her studies of industrial design at the HBK Saar, Germany in 1997. Six years later, after having obtained her diploma and looking back on a one-year traineeship at Konstantin Grcic Industrial Design in Munich, and a six-month traineeship at Yves Béhar/fuseproject, San Francisco, Jule Witte won the first prize in the competition “Art on the Building“ by German Telekom. Her light installation for the foyer of the company building was highly acclaimed.
Since 2004, Jule Witte has worked as a freelance industrial designer in Hamburg, Germany.

Jule Witte’s designs incorporate objects, space and light inspired by materials and technology. While focusing on products of everyday use, Jule believes that one part of the development methodology is letting oneself be inspired by associations and analogies. This ultimately increases the poetic dimension of design and stimulates the observer’s imagination.

Quote: “Fascination for the media of light and the challenge of sophisticated mechanics and refined and detailed solutions is what makes the development of lighting systems of special interest to me. Light always includes color and form and combines product design with space.”
