New York based artist Martin Wittfooth’s oil paintings explore disquieting themes of unchecked pursuits of progress, complacency with the human condition, ignorance, and war, unhinged evolution, the clash of old ideologies with modern fears, and the growing shadow of the collective footprint on the world. The world depicted in Wittfooth’s paintings implores the viewer to question the status quo, to challenge that which is taken for granted, and to proceed with caution on our present course.
Wittfooth earned his Masters in Fine Art at the School of Visual Arts in New York City in 2008. His paintings have been recognized by a variety of awards annuals, including Spectrum, 3x3, and American Illustration, and have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions worldwide.
