Miklos Kolozsvari Grandpierre Biography

My name is Miklós Kolozsvári Grandpierre; I was born in Budapest in 1950.

I learnt anatomy of arts between 1964-1970, and also during this period I learnt painting and graphic techniques from Endre Szász. At the age of 24, I became member of the Studio of Young Artist and the Community of Copper Engravers, where a number of well-known artists supported my development: Gyula Hinz, Jenő Barcsay, János Kass, Ádám Würz and Endre Szász. I illustrated nearly 160 books.

Since 1982 I am a member of MAOE.

I am a graphic artist, a painter and a sculptor. My sculptures are carved out of marble.

As a sculptor and mineral collector, I was intrigued by the thought of carving minerals. I worked out a unique technique for creating miniature sculptures inside of minerals (done through a tiny hole, using an inverse technique). As it is only the silhouette of the sculptures that is visible, while the inside is empty, it seems as if the sculpture had grown into the mineral itself.

I thought Anatomy of Arts in Meiderich (Germany) and Neumark (Austria)

My first introduction to the Hungarian public was in 1974, and my first exhibition abroad was held in 1980.
