Nacho Quiroga Biography

Córdoba, Argentina, 1949 -

An established Argentine artist, Nacho Quiroga paints with oil on canvas and wood in a hyperrealist style. He learned to draw and paint at a young age. His father, José Manuel Quiroga, who was a disciple of Argentine master Francisco Vidal, taught his son the importance of light, composition, balance, and the visual impact of images.

Quiroga has also worked as a cameraman for various television programs, and as a graphic designer for the most prestigious advertising firms in Argentina.

He says of his work: Painting is like music, it’s an expression of the heart, an interior hidden dialogue. The images begin to take form in the depth of my being; emotional sparks, pure adrenaline, that have to do with my daily life, my surroundings, my past, from the emotional. When it arrives at my canvas, my relation with it is extremely intimate, it can have been hours or minutes of silent dialogue. Every part of the painting is equally important, this moment is unique, singular, magic, and everything receives the same attention. After many hours the work finishes, and this intimacy and communion with the canvas in each little part of the work is revealed…
