Pham Viet Hong Lam Biography

Vietnam, 1946

A mid-career Vietnamese artist, Pham Viet Hong Lam paints with gouache on silk. He often conceives of his bold graphic paintings as moods and combinations of colors before choosing a subject.

At the age of twenty Hong Lam entered the army, but was forced to retire after an injury left him deaf. Following in the footsteps of his father, an accomplished painter, he attended the Hanoi Academy of Fine Arts, graduating in 1975. He currently teaches painting at the Central Teacher?s Training College of Music and Art in Hanoi.
