Raymond Peynet Biography

Paris, France, 1908 ? 1999

An established French artist, Raymond Peynet is famous for his drawing of two young lovers, known as The Lovers of Peynet.

He was admitted to art school at the age of 15, and later worked at Tolmer, an advertising agency in Paris. There he drew labels for fragrances and chocolate boxes, and helped to conceive various commercials.

To supplement his income he began to publish his drawings in the Paris press, including le Rire, Rire a deux, Paris Magazine, and The Boulevardier.
