Importance of Listing the Price of Your Artworks

Gone are the days that the galleries and artists could decide the price once the saw the face of the potential buyer.  Today, if you are not listing your prices, you are losing out on significant sales and turning-off potential future buyers.

The following facts have caused this change in the art market of today:

  • Increased Transparency:  Prompted by the Internet, there is more transparency in the market.  If you are not listing your prices at your exhibitions (online or offline), consumers tend to assume that there is something wrong.

  • Educated Consumers:  Today’s consumers do their research.  Whether we are speaking about works by unknown artists or famous masters, they are pretty smart at guessing the approximate prices.

  • Price Sensitivity:  Given the economic conditions, consumers are likely to remain aloof to your works, if you lack in transparency.

  • Availability of Choices:  Whether it is online or offline, consumers have a lot of choices, when it comes to buying art and lack in time.  Most consumers are unlikely to ask for prices, they will simply move on to the next one.

  • Nature of Online and Mental Databases:  If you do not list the prices of your artworks, online databases are not capable of listing your artworks, when the client does a related search.

It is time you start listing your artworks prices.  If not, you are likely to lose clients that should have been yours.

Art Suggestions: Barack Obama in Art

Recently, we have received several requests from collectors for artworks depicting or inspired by Barack Obama.

We would like to put your creative skills to test and create an artwork inspired by this remarkable man.

Between now and 31st of May, create your own Obama-inspired artwork and add it to your PicassoMio.com exhibition.  We will then select one of these artworks and show it on our Home Page to nearly 250,000 monthly visitors.

Remember, any artist can create an Obama-inspired artwork.

You could be a portrait photographer who could be inspired by Obama and create an image of black and white kids playing together, called “Obama Dreams” or you could be an abstract painter, who is inspired by Obama and paints “American Destiny, an American flag in multi-colored stripes.  Or you could simply be a pop artist who creates amazing portraits of Obama and his family.

So let’s get our creative juices flowing….

Once you have created the artwork, simply add it to your PicassoMio.com exhibition and send us the link in an email titled “Obama in Art Submission”.

Also, please do check out our Blog for the latest tips….and what some of the other artists have done on Barack Obama.

Future of Art: Art Amongst the Masses

We have always been curious about the average joe and mary. What does he or she think about art? Do we bore her when we talk about Damien Hirst’s latest screw-up, the hip young artist who stripped down to her underpants at the last Art Basel and ended up selling more art than anyone else or even the latest Picasso show at the Tate.[Read More]
