Born in Colombo, to a German father and Indonesian mother, Gramich grew up in Indonesia until moving to Singapore in 1992, where she began her career in the art world.
Many of her works explore the concept of the instability and incompleteness of human knowledge, and the qualities of knowledge production that are not literal or innocent.
Her work is generally interactive and left “incomplete” in order to invite the viewers’ participation in the artwork.
