Sunol Alvar Biography

Barcelona, Spain 1935

A renowned Spanish painter and graphic artist. His work is characterized by the richness of color, texture, and stylized figures.

Alvar studied in the Superior School of Fine Arts in San Jorge, Barcelona, Spain and won an award at the Young Painters in 1956.

In 1957 he was awarded by the French Institue with First Prize of Circulo Maillo, a French scholarship.

Alvar exhibits on a regular basis in France and spain and his work has been shown in numerous museums and international exhibitions in the United States, Tokyo, Switzerland, Sweden, Tel Aviv, and London.
