Detailed Description

Al Hayy 'The Ever Living' a Name of Allah contained in the Qura'n. This is work in the style of Islamic Abstract Expressionism. This Name occurs in the Ayatul Kursee [The Throne Verse], it is one of the main verses of the Qura'n. The Quran says "Allah. There is no god but He,-the Living [Al Hayy], the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory)." (al Baqarah 2:255) The Name also occurs in the following verses, "Allah. There is no god but He,-the Living [Al Hayy], the Self-Subsisting, Eternal [Al Qayyoom]." (aali I'mraan 3:2) and "(All) faces shall be humbled before (Him) - the Living [Al Hayy], the Self-Subsisting [Al Qayyoom], Eternal: hopeless indeed will be the man that carries iniquity (on his back)." (Ta Ha 20:111) and "He is the Living (One)[Al Hayy]: There is no god but He: Call upon Him, giving Him sincere devotion. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the Worlds!" (Ghaafir 40:65) The green colour represents life and resurrection. The white indicates spiritual purity and success in the next life.
