Detailed Description

Study III emphasizes warm tones and the perception of light similar to desert landscape in northern Chile. This phenomena is particular during periods of “flowered desert”. Tierra de la Frontera Series with roman numerals I through XII represent the first part of a commissioned mural for a hotel in Santiago, Chile. The underlying theme is in reference to the indigenous culture and native morphology of Chilean landscape. The title of the series derives from the word "Chile" which is an indigenous term meaning: "where the land begins and where the land ends". The general composition has been divided every two panels in three zones, the Atacama Desert of northern Chile, central valley highlighting Mapuche Culture and the captivating archipelago and Patagonia of southern Chile. Each one representing elements characterized by pre-Colombian cultures and native flora which flourished in continental Chile.
