Moderne: ¨Streamline Modern¨

Moderne, also referred to as Streamline, was a late branch of Art Deco that reached its height in 1937. One example of Streamline Moderne is Donald Dickey's interior design of New York Radio City Music Hall.

The golden age of aviation (air races, first trans-continental flights, and so on) inspired designers who utilized long, vertical lines in order to capture the machines´ speed and efficiency. This streamlined look first appeared on cars, trains and oceanliners, next advanced to architecture and then proceeded to inform household items, like furniture, small appliances, decorative items and so forth.
