Centrally located on the impressive Gran Via, the "Fine Arts Circle" is based in a beautiful building and hosts some of the most interesting temporary exhibitions in Madrid.  The center also shows films and has art workshops.  A must-visit is it's slightly dated but incredibly charming café and restaurant.

Galería Soledad Lorenzo

Owned by the grand dame of the Spanish contemporary art scene, this gallery works with some of the most interesting names in contemporary art in the country.  The gallery also exhibits the leading artists, like:  Tapies , Barcelo and Usle.

Galería Juana de Aizpuru

Another leading name in the Spanish gallery world, Juana's gallery is located in the hip neighbourhood of Chuecca and is best known for exhibiting photography.  Living legends like Albert Garcia-Alix  have shown their works here.

This gallery certainly has the cutest name amongst the galleries in Spain.  Located in the Huertas district, traditionally, the Letters district of the city, the gallery attempts to bring cutting-edge art to the Madrid audience.

While our own gallery may be young, it has transformed to be one of the most cosmopolitan spaces in the city.  Located in the posh Salamanca district, PicassoMio has shown some of the most diverse art in the city - from New York architects to Vietnamese contemporary artists to Thai avant-garde names.  If you are looking to buy art in Madrid, it is a must-go-to, with works by nearly 3,000 Spanish and international artists, available with prior appointment.

Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia

Spain's most popular contemporary art destination probably has the longest name of all major contemporary art museums, but the Spaniard's simply call it the "Reina Sofia".  Despite constant political battles, the museum has the most impressive collection of modern and contemporary art from Spain.  The recent addition to the existing building by Jean Nouvel may not be that interesting, but it adds more space to the museum.

Museo Nacional del Prado

The Prado hosts the most extensive collection of Spanish art of all times.  The museum is beautifully located in the center of the center of the city, amidst the Madrid's most interesting parks, boulevards and hotels.   The works by El Greco, Goya and Velasquez are its highlights.  Its extensive collection of nearly 7,000 works has been given a breathing room with the extension by famous architect, Rafael Moneo, where the artist, Cristina Iglesias  also collaborated.

Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza

Located very close to the Prado Museum, this museum hosts one of the largest private collections in Europe.  While the museum seems to be a mish-mash of periods and styles, it is a worthwhile visit, if you have visited our other recomendations.
