Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation Vienna (the MUMOK) houses one of the largest collections of modern and contemporary art in Europe. The collection includes works from: American Pop Art and concurrent European phenomena such as Nouveau Réalisme, Radical Realism, and Hyperrealism of the sixties and seventies, Fluxus, Viennese Actionism, Conceptual Art and Minimal Art, Land Art and Arte Povera, installation and object art from the very recent past, as well as contemporary media art.

Contemporary Central and Eastern European art makes up a large part of its collection.

The Museum of the 20th century (subsequently called "20er Haus") was opened as early as 1962 in the Schweizer Garten and is considered the first Austrian museum for modern and contemporary art. In 1979, the Liechtenstein Palais was rented by the Republic of Austria to accommodate the works pertaining to the Austrian Ludwig Foundation. Since 1991 both institutions have formed the MUMOK.

The new museum building designed by the architects Ortner & Ortner.

Lóránd Hegyi serves as the Director of the museum.
