Stedelijk Museum is one of the most important modern art museums in the world. The collection at Stedlijk emphasizes works from 1950 and onwards. Works by both modern day masters and exceptional emerging talent are exhibited here.
A permanent selection of artworks oriented to various art disciplines: paintings, sculptures, drawing, prints and photographs, graphic design, applied art and design, includes artworks by: Kirchner, Malevich, Chagall, Mondrian, Picasso, Newman, De Kooning, Nauman, Merz, Dibbets, and Nauman.
Temporary exhibits in the past have included: German photographer August Sander, Cobra & the Stedelijk , Dutch author Gerrit Komrij, Imi Knoebel , German artist Markus Lüpertz, photographer Nan Goldin, German artist Walter Dahn, Kazimir Malevich, Harry Mulisch, Stuart Davis, Katharina Sieverding , Dutch artist Ad Dekkers, American video artist Bill Viola, David Salle, Kurt Schwitters, Rob Birza, Guido Geelen (Winner of the Dr. A.H. Heineken Prize for Art), Dennis Hopper and Karel Appel.
