Carlos Cabral Nunes Biography

CABRAL NUNES           Born in 1971 in Mozambique. Went to live in Portugal in 1975. He was a student at the Academy of Arts Remscheid, Germany in 1989. Friend and admirer of the work Artur Bual and Mario Cesariny, encouraging them to exhibit their works, from 1997. In the same year performs a manifesto about the concept of Global Art, which led to the creation of the Collective Media Perve of who is a founding member and artistic coordinator. As multimedia author, received several awards in Portugal and abroad. He was a member of the jury of "Top Talent Award" in 2003. Attended the course "Digital Multimedia Authoring" the Arthouse Multimedia Centre for the Arts, Dublin, Ireland and is a permanent member of the European Academy of Media Digital, Utrecht, Netherlands. Performs duties of commissioner and curator for contemporary art exhibitions performed by Perve Gallery since 1999. Participates regularly as a trainer and speaker, exposing his audiovisual and multimedia work, courses, seminars and conferences both nationally and in countries such as Spain, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Austria and Brazil. Is director of the documentary series "NOMA" (1999 - ...) comprised of 24 films dedicated to contemporary art. In 2008 made a curatorial project in Prague Triennale (ITCA 2008) and also "MOBILITY-Re-Reading the Future" inserted into the project plan curated this triennial. He participated in several group exhibitions, among which the group exhibitions "0 Figure - Homage to Artur Bual ", 1997," Reasons to Exist, 2001 and Lisbon Art Fair , 2005, among others. For expositions individual, performed "M. Art "at Gallery Perve, 2002 "(We) Beyond the Sea", 2002 and "Zoomorfismos color, 2003. Was awarded, among others, the Youth Award - Contemporary Art in the XI Biennial of Vila Nova de Cerveira 2001 Award "Visual and Interaction Design" Award National Multimedia, 2001 and "Honorable Mention" Prize awarded by the jury of National Media, 2001.
