Eduardo Urculo Biography

Santurce, 1938 - Madrid, 2003

Acclaimed spanish artist, Eduardo Urculo is one of the main figures in Pop painting in Spain. He worked in diverse schemes, from expressionism to neocubism making the suitcase and the hat, his two big icons.

He started his career in Asturias and soon travelled to Madrid to continue his studies. He lived in Paris and travelled around different european cities.

During the seventies he developed his works with airbrush. Started his pieces labeled as Pop Art and began the erotic period with his female nudes filled with barroquism and color.

In the eighties his work shifted to the narrative, developing themes taken from simbols such as hats, the back of the artist and travelling, all of which are constantly displayed in paintings and sculpture through the shape of the suitcase.
