Founded in 1937, by Curt VALENTIN, a German art dealer, the gallery first operated under the name BUCHHOLZ GALLERY. The Gallery specialized in introducing distinguished European Artists from Germany, Britain and Italy to the American audience.

Major artists promoted by the Gallery included: Max Bekmann, Arp, Feininger, Kirchner and Klee.

This renowned Gallery closed in 1955, a year after the death of the founder.
