Umberto Boccioni
(Calabria, 1882- Verona, 1916)

Italian painter and sculptor and key figure in Futurism.

The artist focussed on the key aspects of the Futurists – representation of time and movement and expression of emotion. His most well known works include the painting, Dynamism of Human ( Galleria dÁrte Moderna, Milan ) and sculpture, Unique Forms of Continuity (Tate Gallery, London and MOMA, NY ). His sculptures often used electric lights and motors to create the effect of movement.
