George Rodger Biography

British-born, George Rodger (1908 - 1995) is recognised as one of the 20th century's most important and revered documentary photographers.

Having worked briefly for the BBC in 1936, he became Life magazine's chief British photojournalist, operating during the war years from sixty-one different countries, concentrating on Africa and the Middle East.

In 1947 George Rodger co-founded the world renowned Magnum Photos with fellow photographers Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa and David "Chim" Seymour.
