Sally Soames Biography

Sally Soames was born in London and has lived there all her life.

Her first assignment was for The Observer in 1963. From 1963-1968 her work was published in The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Observer magazine, The New York Times and American & British television companies.

Sally joined The Sunday Times in 1968 and only left this year.

She has lectured at The London College of Printing, The Royal College of Art and The National Portrait Gallery.

Her style has been widely copied, but nobody betters her ability to show something of a person's soul in a photograph.
