Chaim Gross is considered among one of the greatest of Twentieth Century figurative sculptors.

Gross is also well known for his graphic work. His wood engravings of circus performers, animals and the female form, Chaim Gross combined traditional and tribal or folk styles. After the events of World War II, Gross began to focus heavily Judaic themes relating to his cultural heritage.

In 1921 Gross emigrated from Austria to the United States, where he began studies with Robert Laurent and Elie Nadelman. His works can be seen in every major American museum collection and at The Chaim Gross Studio Museum in New York.
