Irving Amen Biography

New York City -

American painter and printmaker, Irving Amen is well known printmaker, as well as an art instructor.

Trained at the Pratt Institute, New York (1932 to 1939), Amen also studied in Paris and Italy.

He created a Peace Medal commemorating the end of the Vietnam war and for a designed a stained glass window of the Twelve Tribes of Israel, for a Synagogue, in Columbus, Ohio.

He has been a well-regarded instructor of art at Pratt Institute and at the Notre Dame University, South Bend, Indiana.

Amongst his memberships are the Society of American Graphic Artists, the International Society of Wood Engravers, and the Audubon Artists.
