Detailed Description

Published by: Gallery Maeght, Paris Reference: Maeght 1026. See Vallier catalogue Rosen page 294 where this is illustrated. Note: In the Dora Vallier catalogue raisonee of Braque’s works the text there reads as follows:“ There are a number of graphics by Braque that are based upon his paintings, watercolours or goaches that were printed by those who customarily handled his graphic work and are published by Maeght. A catalogue by Maeght reads as follows : “These graphics, whether etchings or lithographs, were pulled on fine paper in Limited Editions, from 100 to 300 copies, all numbered. In most cases the artist himself chose the pieces and the printing process which to him seemed most appropriate. He assisted in the execution of the graphics, observed and directed the work of the engraver or lithographer, who, without departing from the means of expression of which he is master, has through his own sensibility rediscovered the profound resonance of the original work”
