A Portuguese magnate, who made his fortune in the mining sector in South Africa and Australia, is probably the best-known Portuguese collector of contemporary art.
Since his return to the homeland, he has been making investments in media, manufacturing, and hotel sectors.
His collection in the 20th century art is on loan to the Sintra Museum of Modern Art, near Lisbon and includes important works by Warhol, Arp, Acconci and Zorio.
