Artist's Statement
Artistic Development:
A line is a journey from one place to another, from one dimension into another.From line to a drawing. Drawing on sculpture is one of my major guidelines in art. Every day is a journey for me. My sculptures depict my journeys, the lines I make. Whether it is in clay, stone or metal, drawing is my fundament. Even my Abstract sculpture is a journey from figuration to abstraction, dissolving and making lines and shapes simple. The result is feeling expressed with lines. In my paintings the figurative way of thinking is more present. Colours I prefer are intense in character. I have also been diving into expressing in other mediums such as photography and experimental film which you can see on blip tv., user Jagannatha dasi. The film is named “Three stories”and is about a sculpture's journey through situations and time.
Inspiration in current artwork:
I have been overwhelmed by the colours and impressions of India, which I was lucky to see in 2008. Indias rich devotional sculpture with rich ornament is a strong influence in my further sculptural thinking and expression. I am to take now the journey from abstract back to figural expression.
