Natalie Majaba Waldburger Biography

Canadian (b. 1970)

Natalie Majaba Waldburger's colour-field inspired encaustic paintings are characterised by a velvety surface quality with precisely illustrated scenes. Her floating figures are portrayed with carefree abandon, in other works small boats are drawn in fine lines. Waldburger's uniquely shaped canvases give her work a sculptural quality, often acting as a compositional device, revealing the story of the painting selectively as the viewer moves around it.

Waldburger is currently working on her Masters degree at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design; her work has been featured in numerous exhibitions in Canada and Europe.
