Robert Cottingham Biography

This ESTABLISHED PAINTER and GRAPHIC ARTIST is one of the key figures in American PHOTOREALISM. In his work, Robert Cottingham combines fragments of advertisements and commercial billboard imagery with the glaring reflections of neon lights.

Using photographs as his guide, Cottingham works in series referring to particular themes or objects, for instance signs, words, numbers, buildings, train tracks and typewriters, always using their appearance in American life as his focus.
