Ronnie Ford Biography

Dunoon, Scotland, 1951.

An established Scottish artist, Ronnie Ford paints sculptural paintings inspired by the French and Scottish countryside. Ford?s unique style of heavily textured canvases has evolved from his studies of sculpture and optical art, and is influenced by time spent in the Far East. Ford is following the Chinese belief that any artist can copy the landscape, but only a true master can capture the essence of nature, and that is what he strives to do.

He says of his work: ?I study the landscape, then distance myself from it, physically and with time, in order to filter out the unnecessary detail and capture the spirit of what I have seen on my canvases. As a result my paintings are often not representations of any particular place, but more of the impression that the place made on me.?

Ford studied at the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland.
