Banda, India, 1935 -
An established Indian artist and poet, Umesh Varma is prestigious painter and printmaker.
With degrees in Botany, Chemistry and Zoology, Varma turned to the arts and trained at the Delhi Polytechnic University (1958 ? 63).
He has also served as a Lecturer in Fine Arts at the University of New Delhi and received India's most prestigious award in visual arts, National Academy Award by the Lalit Kala Akademi, amongst several other recognitions and awards in India and Japan.
